[Event] Doyenne, Dreambank, Daily Cardinal

On November 19, 2014 I attended a discussion group with the Doyenne Group and Rebecca Kleefisch that focused on funding for women entrepreneurs.  It was exciting to hear about what other women are working on, and where they are finding support for their businesses.  While I am not currently looking for funding, I see potential for growth in the future and find it incredible useful to know the current state of affairs.  I was really amazed to hear how women are lagging in funding.  It is a really exciting time to be a small business owner an see such great opportunity on the horizon.

[Organizing] Monkey Bars Storage Product Review

Alright, so as you can clearly see the garage was in need of some help.  It is a prime example of a project I put off at my own home because it was not a priority.  I am often asked if my home is "perfect!"  The answer is NO!  Here is a good time for me to mention a couple key points on how I feel about organizing…
  • Organization of your things should be a priority if it is negatively affecting the quality or safety of your life.
  • Organization is ongoing.  You have to set aside time for maintenance.

Ok, so back to my garage…  With winter coming, I jumped at the opportunity to test out Monkey Bars for our yard tool storage in the garage.  The garage was in need of some maintenance before the snow flew.

Install:
  • The box arrived very quickly.  It was a little damaged in transit but that did not affect the product inside…this stuff is sturdy!
  • The instructions were very straight forward.  I also watched a video online that showed installation.
  • Collect the tools!  Since I was installing over the pegboard, I did not get out a level.  All I really needed was a drill/driver and bits.
  • Installation took only a couple of minutes.

Feedback:
  • The bar came with more hooks than we actually needed!
  • Very sturdy product!  It can hold a lot more than we have on there in both quantity and weight.
  • I would have chosen a different location had I realized ahead of time how far the Monkey Bar was going to stick out from the wall.  This is right next to the diver's side of the car in a one car garage so every inch matters.  The brackets (below), combined with the hooks are quite deep.
  • One advantage to installing over the pegboard was that we are still able to hang hooks on the board and store items behind where the Monkey Bar hangs.  In other words, we almost doubled our hanging storage on that 4 foot section of wall.

Overall, a great product!  I have tried out other rail systems with clients that were a lot more complicated to install and did not have the variety in hooks.  I am interested in trying out their bike rack system, but not until the spring since the snow was flying today!

Disclaimer:  Life Organized learned about Monkey Bars Storage at the NAPO 2014 Conference in Phoenix.  I was later asked to review a complementary product and chose the one pictured above.  My review is my own personal opinion of the product and was not in any way influenced by Monkey Bars Storage

Life Organized is very excited to be one of the newest members of Dane Buy Local!!!  It is the larges county-wide organization of it's kind.  They just surpassed 800 members and are going strong!  It is truly exciting to be part of an organization that cares so much about the local economy and the impact it has on everyone.

If you do not know about DBL, just head over to their website danebuylocal.com!  There you can look through the member listing to see if you can get just about anything that you might need from a local vendor.  Remember, when you buy local more of those dollars stay local and help families in your community!  It is a win for everyone.

This morning I attended my first event.  It was held at the Waunakee Village Center and hosted by the Waunakee Chamber of Commerce.  It was a great event.  There were several speakers including one on productivity and another from WPR talking about their series on Death and Dying.  Believe it or not, I find it to be an interesting topic since we have had several special people pass in the past 5 years.

Dany Buy Local has been on my radar for some time, but I honestly had not done my research to learn that their members are from all areas of business.  I thought that since I did not sell a product, I would not be a good fit.  I was wrong!  I was offered a membership by Spencer Smith Consulting at the InBusiness Expo and I am so thrilled and thankful that I was int he right place at the right time.  CHEERS!
